The Ilia State University Summer School of English and Georgian Studies brings together students from around the world for an inspiring journey of academic learning, cultural discovery, and international connections in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Hosted at the main campus of Ilia State University, the program offers a unique opportunity to improve your English language skills, take your first steps in learning the Georgian language, and explore the rich history, culture, and contemporary society of Georgia and the wider Black Sea and Caucasus region. Courses are delivered by experienced and internationally recognized Iliauni faculty, providing participants with a stimulating and interactive learning environment.
Beyond the classroom, the summer school offers a rich cultural and social program, including guided tours of Tbilisi, visits to museums and historical sites, and excursions to some of Georgia’s most remarkable regions, such as Kakheti and Mtskheta. These experiences will allow participants to discover the country’s diverse heritage, traditions, landscapes, and hospitality.

Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia and the great metropolis of Caucasus, with over 1 million population, is a truly fascinating, multi-cultural city where traditions meet modern lifestyle.
Georgia ranks 18th in the list of safest countries in the world according to Numbeo in 2023, whereas Tbilisi has been one of the safest cities in the world for the last 10 years, regularly ranked in top 50 globally in safety index charts.
The program includes cultural and social events including field trips to historical and cultural sites in Tbilisi and the different parts of Georgia:
